How to play
1. Introduction
Guessr Place is an online geography game where you guess real-world locations using Google Street View. You’ll see a random place on the map, and your goal is to guess where it is as accurately as possible. The closer your guess is to the real location, the more points you earn. You can play solo or challenge others in different game modes.
2. Game Types
There are two types of game mode for Duels, Classic and Battle Royal:
- Ranked: Your wins and losses affect your global rating.
- Unranked: Play for fun without affecting your score.
2.1 Singleplayer
In Singleplayer mode, you explore locations alone. You can take your time, look around freely, and place your guess on the map. It’s a great way to practice, learn geography, or just relax without any pressure. Your score is based on how close your guess is to the actual location. Play
2.2 Duel
Duel is a fast-paced 1v1 battle. You and another player see the same location and guess at the same time. The one who guesses closer deals damage to the opponent. Each player has HP (health points), and the game continues until someone runs out of HP. Duels are intense and require quick thinking and good map skills! Play
2.3 Duel vs Bot
In this mode, you’ll face off against an AI opponent. The bot's difficulty automatically adjusts to your current rating, so the higher your rank, the smarter the bot becomes. It's a great way to warm up, practice under pressure, or improve your skills before ranked duels. You can play at your own pace without waiting for real players. Play
2.4 Classic
In Classic mode, you play 10 rounds and guess locations in each round. The closer your guess is, the more points you get. After all 10 rounds, your total score is shown. This mode is perfect for practicing, comparing results with friends, or improving your accuracy. You can also replay rounds and challenge yourself to get a better score. It’s the most traditional way to enjoy the game. Play
2.5 Battle Royal
In Battle Royale, you compete against many players in a knockout-style game. Everyone sees the same location, and in each round, players who guess too far from the real spot are eliminated. The rounds get harder, and only the best stay in the game. It continues until one player remains — the winner! You need to be fast and accurate. It's a thrilling survival mode where every round counts. Play
2.6 Private Game
Want to play with just your friends or community? Create a Private Game! You can set the rules, choose the map, and invite others with a code. It's perfect for group fun, events, or classroom challenges. Only invited players can join, so it’s a great way to enjoy the game in a more personal setting. Play
3. How to start a game
Starting a game is easy! You can choose any mode from the main menu on the left or simply click the buttons in the center of the screen. Each button shows the game type and a short description. Just pick one and start playing in seconds!

4. Game Flow
4.1 Game Start
Each game consists of several rounds. You’ll have a limited amount of time to explore the location and make your guess. The timer is visible on the screen, and the number of rounds depends on the game mode. Try to make the best guess before time runs out!

4.2 Exploring the Location
Once the round begins, you’ll be dropped into a random spot on Google Street View. You can look around in 360° and, depending on the game mode, move along the streets. Carefully observe everything around you — road signs, language, landscapes, cars, people, shops, and more.
Look for clues that can help you guess the region. For example:
-
A desert road might point to Africa or the Middle East
-
Cyrillic letters may indicate Russia or nearby countries
-
Left-side driving suggests the UK, Australia, or Japan
-
Palm trees and Spanish signs could hint at South America
With enough practice, you’ll even recognize cities or famous streets. Use every detail to figure out where you are!

4.3 Make a Guess
When you have an idea of the location, click the small world map in the bottom-right corner. Use zoom and drag to find the spot you believe the location is in. Click to place your marker, then press the 'Confirm' button to lock in your guess before time runs out.

4.4 Results & Stats
At the end of each round, you'll see how far your guess was from the actual location. You’ll get points based on distance. If you're playing with others, you’ll also see how your score compares with theirs. It's a great way to track progress and learn geography!

4.5 End of the Game
After all rounds are completed, you’ll see the final results screen. It shows your total score, your guesses from each round, and how close you were. If you played with others, the leaderboard will show everyone's ranking. You can also view the correct locations, analyze your mistakes, and choose to play again. It’s a great way to improve and challenge yourself next time!

11. Clans
11.1 Create your own clan
You can create a clan from the main menu on the right side of the screen. When creating a clan, you’ll need to set a clan name, a short tag (up to 5 characters), and a description. The description can be anything you want — it could reflect your style, goals, or just be something fun like: “Explorers of the unknown, united by curiosity and maps.” You can also add a Discord link for your clan if you want to communicate with members outside the game.
Important: To create or join a clan, you must first play at least 10 ranked games. Create

11.2 Your clan page
On your clan’s page, you’ll see all the key information: the clan name, rating, description, and a list of members. Below that, there’s a clan activity feed showing events like new members joining, role changes, members being kicked, or other updates. If you have the proper permissions, you can change a member’s role or remove them from the clan. There is also a button to open the Edit Clan page, where you can update all settings and roles (see next section).

11.3 Edit clan information
The Edit Clan page allows users with the right role to update the clan’s basic information: name, tag, description, and Discord link. You can also manage roles and permissions within the clan — for example, deciding who can invite new members, change roles, or edit clan settings. This gives flexibility in how your clan is organized and run.

11.4 Clan rating
A clan’s rating is directly influenced by its members' performance in ranked games. Whenever a clan member finishes a ranked game, the rating they gain or lose is also added to or subtracted from the clan’s rating. The amount depends on the difference between the player’s rating and the opponents’. This means active and skilled players help their clan climb the leaderboard. Every new clan starts with a base rating of 1000.
